German A1Chapter 2 of 24

Forming Questions

Two ways to ask anything in German — and the question words you need.

You've met nouns and verbs. Now you can start conversations. This chapter teaches the two question forms German uses: yes/no questions (where the verb jumps to the front) and W-questions (Wer, Was, Wo, Wann, Wie, Warum, Woher). By the end you'll be able to introduce yourself, ask where someone is from, and understand the questions Germans will almost certainly ask you in your first week here.
